Cruising the Canal de la Sarre and Sarre river, France
Houillon is a nice port €13 inc W&E +€1 for bread in the morning, no fuel and no wifi.
Nice mooring in lay by at PK10.1, no facilities. All locks 1-13 operated by itinerant lock keepers so advise your trip in advance.
Mittersheim is a large port with W&E, nicely landscaped. Basic Shoppi, Bank-cash point, Coiffure in town.
Cafe in port and Logis hotel and VNF office by lock 13, all look a bit tired. No Wifi.
Cruised past all moorings till Sarreguemines, long day because heavy rain forecast for next day and we did not want to be in it.
500 meters north from this halte is the canal bridge over the Albe; it was the first metal-basin aqueduct, built in 1867.
Sarregumines is pleasant in parts. Moorings on club pontoons €10+€0.50/1kw for electric, will need a long lead and long hose for water.
On public pontoons, either side of club moorings(still pay at the club barge) €10 incl W&E.
Moved to public mooring by park, qute pleasant and less traffic noise, though more playful children and the Petanque club in full force.
Club moorings at Motorboot-Club Saar are good, good showers etc, friendly welcome but long walk to tram station to go to city centre.
Moorings at the Theatre in Saarbrucken were empty, probably due to the noise of the motorway opposite.
